SOLOMUN: TWO'S COMPANY

Solomun's residencies at Pacha indicated a significant meeting of two worlds last season: the merging of underground values with more mainstream clubbing principles — and vice versa. With his back to the VIP area — which remained as packed as ever — the Diynamic boss brought the likes of DJ Koze, Heidi and DJ Hell to play b2b at one of Ibiza's most glam clubs every week. It was such a blast, they've asked him to do it all over again...

How successful was Solomun +1 last season and why?
“Fortunately the first year at Pacha was a success, so there was no doubt that we would continue the residency there also this year. Of course it is always hard for me to answer this question, maybe it would be easier for somebody else, because I am not objective at all. But maybe it was a mixture between the new look that we gave Pacha for the night by shifting the DJ booth to the middle of the dancefloor, and of course my great +1 artists who joined me for the night. Maybe also the fact that only two artists each night take care of the musical journey.”

How will it be different this year?
“The look of the club will be different than last year. Me and my team spent lots of time and effort in the decoration of the club. Last year we shifted the booth and started with our orgy look. This year we are gonna reach the next level, so let yourself be surprised. The concept of course will stay the same. Every Sunday, one guest and myself will take care of the night. There will also be a few new guests this year.”

Who have you booked for this season, any curveballs?
“Like last year, there will be Âme, Miss Kittin, DJ Koze and Heidi. And this year we invited also Dixon, Pete Tong, Claude VonStroke, Kölsch with his Ibiza debut, andhim who will play exclusively for my night and of course my label-mates H.O.S.H. and Adriatique.”

Who are you most excited about playing with this summer?
“This is impossible to answer, I am sorry, all of those guys are great artists and I love listening to them — and of course ending up back-to-back with them the last hour of the party. So I am most excited about every single night, for real!”
