PREMIERE: PAUL VAN DYK

PvD’s Festival Mix for “Come With Me (We Are One)” with Ummet Ozcan

While the business of electronic music is often griped over by bloviating bloggers, many of whom have never smelled fresh vinyl; having recently bungeed into the deep house hot streak or bass jumped into the 808s-laden trap.

However, when it comes to German electronic musical mastermind, Paul van Dyk, this has never and will never be the case. People connect to his music and dance at his performances rather than opt for bottle service-sitting and head-nodding all night. This may be because he plays live during his sets, a rarity in modern dance music. What’s more, PvD still makes trance- and those who don’t fancy it still flock to PvD like moths to the flame - his glow too bright to ignore. And it has been some time since we’ve heard any new releases from the Berlin baronial of beats, so rest assured, he’s baa-aack. His forthcoming album, Politics of Dancing 3 will be out this fall (via VANDT/ ULTRA). Still, we’re about as patient as Seth Troxler queuing for the toilet stall at Berghain, so, DJ Mag has an exclusive first listen of van Dyk’s collaborative track with the ever-growing Turkish-Dutch talent, Ummet Ozcan.

PvD’s festival mix of their dynamic steamroller, “Come With Me (We Are One),” ushers the DJ and producer back into the world’s patient ears. With a veritable layer cake of all things electro, the tune is both a stadium anthem yet also smooth like homemade butter- all you need is some gusto and the proper ingredients. Paul van Dyk not only has the ingredients, he wrote the cook book. His recipe for singles, while at the core is always steeped in trance, PVD is one of the only DJs who also offshoots into the hearts and dancing feet of the elitist music snobs all the way to the EDM youngbloods. “We Are One” is also the theme for PVD’s annual Berlin mega event WE ARE ONE, which will take place August 16 at the famous Zitadelle Spandau in Berlin.  After, he will return to New York City to headline the Beatport stage at Electric Zoo happening at Randall’s Island on Saturday, August 30. So until then, bide your time with this exclusive first-listen below.
