DJ MAG WEEKLY PODCAST: CURSES

Safer at Night boss gives a taste of New York after-hours

Luca Venezia spent most of the last ten years exploding bass bins as dubstep evangelist Drop The Lime. As head of the seminal Trouble & Bass label in New York, Venezia released countless ferocious, sub heavy beasts. Then, just as dubstep started to break the mainstream, he turned his back on it. Ever contrary, Venezia turned Drop the Lime into a rockabilly electro fusion outfit, singing and playing live.

Around a year ago he transformed once again, reviving one of his older monikers, Curses, to join in with the new wave of house and techno taking over his hometown of New York City. This was announced with the emotional, nostalgic house track “So Good” earlier this year, signed to dance giant Ultra.

Out next is his new 'Heartbeat' EP on his own Safer at Night imprint (listen here), while his Safer At Night residency at New York's Verboten welcomes Felix Da Housecat – who is also starting a new residency at the club - on Saturday 23rd of August.

To get your juices flowing he's dropped us the latest insallment in our weekly podcast series. Filled with dark, night crawling house.
