The owner of Oakland’s Ghost Ship warehouse - the scene of a 2017 tragedy that killed 36 clubbers at a 100% Silk party in December of last year - is set to receive a $3 million insurance payout for the building.

KTVU FOX2 recently reported that the payment by Commercial Industrial Buildings Owners Alliance Insurance Company was confirmed by attorneys for one of the defendants in the criminal case.

The decision has proved controversial. Curtis Briggs, an attorney defending two of the men charged with manslaughter following the incident claimed that Ng “profited from the tragedy”.

Despite being the subject of numerous civil lawsuits, Ng was not charged in the criminal case. KTVU recently tracked down Ng, who declined to comment and shielded her face before briskly walking away from nearby cameras.
