PREMIERE: ARA KOUFAX TEASES NEW CUT COPY

Cut Copy presents 'Oceans Apart,' with compilation cut, Ara Koufax’s “Brenda”

With a career that has spanned over a decade, Australian born and bred electronic band Cut Copy are looking to give back to their community.

Today the news arrives that the band will soon be releasing their latest project, Oceans Apart, a continuous DJ mix with the sights and sounds of Melbourne serving as their inspirational backdrop. Set to premiere November 11 on Cutters Records, the Oceans Apart mix is comprised of 19 expertly curated tracks, all of which play to the diverse strengths and illustrious varieties of the now thriving Melbourne underground dance scene.

With many more artists in tow, Oceans Apart aims to allow their listeners to hear a side of Australia that is as unexpected and expansive as the landscape itself. The first track to be debuted, Cut Copy has chosen to set the tone with is “Brenda,” a lo-fi and rhythmic single from Ara Koufax. Making a powerful impact upon pressing play, this nine-minute offering is a wise choice as it serves as Oceans Apart’s first impression out the gate.

Starting off with a pulsating beat and steady drum kicks, “Brenda” opens up like the beginning credits of an ’80s thriller movie. Deeply spiritual in its presentation, “Brenda” allows the imagination to run wild with its repetitive vocals, continuously chanting and wailing in a foreign tongue, the driving force of the track.

Listen to “Brenda” by Ara Koufax exclusively below, and stay tuned for the entire project that Cut Copy has in store on Oceans Apart
