IMS ASIA-PACIFIC SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED

Singapore International Music Summit speakers include Tong and Oakenfold

International Music Summit (IMS) Asia-Pacific has revealed the initial line-up of speakers set for its Singapore conference on 11th December. The conference will be the first of its kind in Asia and will bring 30 speakers from every part of the industry to discuss the current state and development of electronic music in the region.

The first speakers announced include Pete Tong (who is the co-founder of IMS), Paul Oakenfold, Richie Hawtin, Damian Lazarus and Steve Angello. Other speakers include executives from Spotify, Ministry Of Sound and Pioneer DJ.

The nine-hour event will take place at W Singapore — Santosa Cove and will be presented by Pete Tong, famous BBC Radio 1 host. The event also coincides with Singapore's ZoukOut 2014, which will take place on the 12th and 13th of December. ZoukOut is Asia's largest dance music festival, attracting over 40,000 festival-goers.

“Singapore is the gateway to electronic music in Asia. The city was one of the first places in this part of the world to have a superclub. In the mid-90s, the media would cite Cream (Liverpool), Ministry Of Sound (London) and Singapore’s Zouk as the world’s biggest club brands. Zouk’s extension into a festival has shown that Singapore remains very much at the centre of the genre’s development in this region,” stated IMS co-founder Ben Turner.

The speakers will participate in a mixture of keynote speeches, panels, interviews and workshops as they discuss a variety of topics applicable to the state of electronic music in Asia.
