CHATTIN' BREEZE: RISE

Dancing yourself into a mess to your favourite tunes is always best when at your peak

We all like to get high. Dancing yourself into a sweaty mess to your favourite tunes is always best when at your peak... the peak of a mountain, that is.

Ski dance festivals are nothing new. Snowbombing, Horizon, ElectroSnow are just a few that have mastered the formula. A day on the slopes, followed by a rave — or both at the same time — is probably the most inviting way to dislocate a shoulder. Obviously we wouldn't encourage you to take on a black slope after a few G&Ts, but we very much advocate getting your party on 3000 meters above sea level wherever possible.

Thank the bass-loving gods above, then, for RISE Festival, set in Les Deux Alpes, a stunning ski resort in France that boasts Europe's biggest skiable glacier. By the makers of Ibiza Rocks, Wasteland Ski and Rough Hill, the likes of DJ EZ, Jackmaster, Artwork, Hannah Wants, B Traits, Toyboy & Robin have been lined basslines while surrounded 360 by eye-watering alpine panorama, time to Rise and shine!

SATURDAY 13TH — SATURDAY 20TH DECEMBER

WE ASKED THE DJS TO TELL US THEIR SKIING STORIES...

JACKMASTER

“I've been to some skiing festivals but I can't actually ski, so I mostly just sit in a hotel room with Skream and get pished. Once we got so drunk we poured 80%-proof rum all over our balcony table and tried to set it on fire, forgetting that the hotel was built entirely out of wood. We should be in jail really.”

B.TRAITS

“I grew up on a White Water Ski Resort in Nelson, Canada... In my early teens, after a night of it snowing about three-feet, my mates and I decided it would be a great idea to ride the backside of the mountain for fresh powder (fresh snow). But of course, I got lost and spent three hours in a tree before search and rescue found me!”

TOYBOY & ROBIN

“This is actually our first time skiing in YEARS, and also our first snow festival. Prepare to see a yin-yang-style snowball rolling down the slopes as we try to keep each other's balance! Let's hope we play early into the festival, otherwise we could seriously be doing the set in wheelchairs...” up for a series of club-nights and a pool party from the likes of Shorebitch, Seedy Sonics and Running Wild. Beats all night and only the best
