GARNIER’S BOOK FINALLY IN ENGLISH

Laurent's Electrochoc to be made available in an English translation

When DJ Mag received a chapter of Laurent Garnier’s Electrochoc book a few years ago, we said we couldn’t wait for the full English translation — our French not really being up to much. But an English translation has taken a while, for one reason or another.

The book has been translated into German, Russian, Spanish and Japanese already, but now it is to get an English release via Rocket 88 books.

The French techno don is one of the most insightful people in international dance music (not to mention still one of the finest DJs), and his book Electrochoc is a personal journey through the last 30 years of electronic dance music. It includes interviews with people like Mad Mike from Underground Resistance, Jeff Mills, Francois K, Pedro Winter from Ed Banger, James Murphy from DFA and lots more.

“It's the whole story of the electronic music scene over the last 30 years from the inside — from before the birth of rave in the UK to present-day Berlin and features New York, Detroit, Manchester, Paris etc,” says Laurent. “It’s all in there — in fact, most of you are in there!”

The book, however, won’t be available in the shops or on Amazon. The book will exclusively be available to people who register at www.laurentgarnierbook.com

“I would be hugely grateful if you could spread the word around you with a link,” adds Laurent. DJ Mag is only too happy to.
