Behringer's Oberheim OB-Xa Clone Revealed

The company's founder posted concept images on Gearslutz...

Behringer's new Oberheim OB-aX clone has been revealed in a post on the Gearslutz forum. The classic poly has long been on the wishlist of producers across the world for its huge, wide, rich sound and was originally used by the likes of Prince, Depeche Mode and New Order.

Having already promised a run of classic synth clones, Uli Behringer, the company's founder, has explained the UB-Xa will be a passion project that will likely take 12 months to come to market. They've already officially and unofficially announced a whole host of new synth clones though none have an official release date.

Still, the renders he's posted on Gearslutz look like the real deal and if the company's penchant for low prices holds true, it's a very exciting time for synth fans.

How it sounds though, is still a mystery. Read the full Gearslutz post here, find out about their newly announced vocoder here. Their Minimoog clone is already available for pre-order.
