Digital Gets Zapped!

The Fabric of the North comes to Brighton

Brighton's renowned Zap Club is set to become a brand new venue - Digital Brighton. The owners of amazing Newcastle club Digital - described as the "Fabric of the North" by DJmag's own Carl Loben - have recently acquired the site and are keen to turn it into a extension of their innovative concept in the dance-hungry seaside city.

"Brighton's joined the Digital age!" exclaimed Dave Stone, Digital's big cheese, when DJmag linked with him to discuss the club's exciting future.

The Zap Club, already steeped in dance music history, is about to undergo a new chapter, and Stone is keen to stress that the new venue will keep the spirit of the Zap's past while surging towards a brand new future.

"Obviously, The Zap is legendary in dance music culture, I myself came to my first ever acid house do here courtesy of the Skint boys back in the day-glo," Stone beamed.
"And so we want to embrace that history while taking it into the 21st century, with respect to its past but bringing it up-to-date. In that spirit, there will be a total re-furb - loads of geographic changes to the club."
Another change to the famous spot will be its expansion to an all-purpose live gig venue.

"It's also going to be a live venue so it can multi-task," Stone confirmed. "It will be a venue every night of the week with club nights afterwards."

So what artists and DJs can DJmag readers expect to see playing at Digital Brighton?

"At the moment it's all on lockdown, being programmed," said Stone, mysteriously. "It's safe to say we'll be working with the city's movers and shakers, whilst bringing our own Digital flavour.

"People can go to the website -www.yourfutureisdigital.com - and register for our e-flyer, and as soon as the nights are announced, the news will be in their inbox."
