FIRST SET OF NAMES ANNOUNCED FOR BMC
Are you heading down to the UK's only electronic music conference in Brighton?
Brighton Music Conference (BMC) has just announced its first raft of DJ names. The organisers tell DJ Mag that they are confirming DJs and leading industry figures for panels and gigs every day — and they've just revealed a few tasty names to whet our appetites.
BMC is a mixture of panels, networking events, onstage Q&As, equipment demonstrations, masterclasses and night-time events. It's taking place on the English south coast in the vibrant city of Brighton on June 5th and 6th. It's the UK's only electronic music conference, and takes as its role model the colossal international success of the Amsterdam Dance Event — ADE.
BMC is based around the palatial Dome complex in the centre of Brighton, while the city's clubs and gig venues will be paying host to networking events and showcases in the evenings. The first BMC was an unqualified success in 2014, and this summer's one looks set to surpass that already.
Acid house pioneer DJ Pierre has already confirmed, as has Ralf Kolmann from the acclaimed Mobilee Records in Germany. Dave Clarke, the techno don who used to be a Brighton resident before moving to Amsterdam, is again an integral part of the programme. A consultant for ADE, the Baron Of Techno was also heavily involved in the first BMC in a consultancy role, and as well as appearing on various panels he'll also be playing one of his incredible DJ sets as part of the event.
Other names already confirmed include former Underworld man Darren Emerson — still big in the game. The Wiggle boys — Terry Francis, Eddie Richards and Nathan Coles — will also be plying their wares, while techno legends Psycatron from Planet E and Chymera from Ovum are already booked too.
Some of the core contributors and partners for BMC include YouTube, Facebook, Beatport, BIMM, Point Blank, AIM and Access To Music. Sponsors include Native Instruments, Ableton, Allen & Heath, Focusrite, Novation, Funktion One, Sennheiser and PRS For Music.
DJ Mag is also involved in BMC as the main dance music sponsor. Various members of our team will be appearing on panels, staffing our stall and generally being on-hand to network with all manner of industry figures — amateur and professional. We'll also be hosting a major night-time event at one of Brighton's top clubs — details to be confirmed nearer the time.
Tickets for BMC come in two options: BMC Professional (for professionals, natch) and BMC Academy passes, for students and non-professionals. Early bird tix for the latter are just £10 until the end of March, and entitles delegates to visit the exhibition, attend panels and check masterclasses and showcases.
