Nothing else matters... but the music

SUMMER MATTERS
After an incredible first UK tour with my brand ‘Nothing Else Matters...’, I’m excited to be doing a short one-week stint of shows the week beginning 22nd June with a selection of DJs that are making the most noise from the UK and around the world.

It all kicks off at BCM Mallorca on the Tuesday before heading over to Ibiza to take over the world-famous terrace at Amnesia with Michael Calfan, Philip George, Kryder and Tom Staar joining me for what will be a special night in collaboration with Cream.

The Friday is all about London at The Qube Project with David Zowie, DJ S.K.T and Kokiri before concluding at my favourite Northern Irish venue on Saturday — Lush. I’ll be joined by Michael Calfan and Junior J, so if you’re in any of those places, it would be rude not to, right?!

BACK TO SHOW US HOW IT’S REALLY DONE...
Every year around this time, heading into summer, we’re hit with the best tunes that labels and producers have been keeping close to their chests all year to unleash just in time for festivals — and of course, Ibiza!

With so much music around, it all feels a little bit safe and ‘samey’, with not much going on in the ‘original’ department. Cue... the biggest acts in dance and electronic music coming back with new music and hot new albums!

It’s almost like they’ve seen enough of the formulaic approach to dance music over recent months and come back like the masters they are to show us how it should sound... evolving, creating, leading and just sounding fresher than ever.

Look out for new LPs from dance acts of different generations, coming together to drive us properly into the sound of 2015. Step up Disclosure, Rudimental, The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, Julio Bashmore, George Fitzgerald and Nero in what seems like just the start of a long line of heavyweights to unleash new weapons this year.

KING PRYDZ
One name I didn’t mention in that last section was king of the ‘prog’ and my personal favourite... Mr Eric Prydz! Since hearing him first drop his masterpiece ‘Generate’ to a 7000-strong crowd at Ushuaia for Radio 1 Ibiza last August, I chased him for it weekly until he finally let me have the finished copy in April this year — a whole eight months!

It seems he takes the same careful approach to all his music, as details have finally emerged of his debut artist album after years of held breath and anticipation. He’s been tweaking, altering, building and perfecting what is sure to be one of the biggest dance music albums of the year...

one that he says has taken him over a decade to write in his head, and we can get our hands on it in October! In the meantime... with so much unreleased music, he’s treating us to three whole EPs with four new tracks in each, coming in July, August and September respectively and leading into the actual album. What a guy!
