Premiere: Mehmet Aslan ‘Escape’

Swiss-born Turkish DJ/producer Mehmet Aslan delivers a deep, atmospheric slow-burner on Bobby Pleasure’s Needs (not-for-profit) label – joining Lord of the Isles, Petwo Evans and more, all proceeds go to the Help Refugees charity...

Mehmet Aslan has been steadily building a profile over the past few years as a DJ/producer who can carefully craft a a moody, introspective atmosphere while retaining an inviting dancefloor groove. With his ‘Mechanical Turk’ EP being released on Huntley’s and Palmers back in 2014 and a brand new EP, Alysha, dropping on Dischi Autunno earlier this year, it’s been a steady incline for the Swiss-born Turkish artist. Not only that, he has also released a selection of irresistible Turkish disco edits under the MMT monicker on his own Hamam House imprint and remixed tracks for Disco Halal.

Now, Aslan appears on the latest release on London DJ Bobby Pleasure’s Needs (not-for-profit) imprint, set for release Monday 16th April. The non-profit label is now on its third release, with previous compilations donating all proceeds to very deserving initiatives like UK mental health charity, Mind and British homelessness charity, Crisis.

Needs 003 will be donating all proceeds from the release to the Help Refugees charity. Each of the EP’s five tracks come from an artist from a different part of the world; Lord Of The Isles, Petwo Evans, Bartellow & Nick Gynn. Mehmet Aslan’s ‘Escape’ – premiering below – is a deep, Middle Eastern inspired slow-burner with a downtempo groove and enticing embellishment.

“Promoting harmony and togetherness rather than isolation and estrangement” this is a very special release indeed from a hugely admirable label. You can pre-order your copy here.
