BRIXTON NIGHTCLUB PLAN B CLOSES DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY

Bought by The Columbo Group

Popular Brixton nightclub Plan B has unexpectedly closed down after being bought by bar and club collective The Columbo Group.

Plan B joins a long list of club closures including London’s Cable and Plastic People, and more recently Glasgow’s The Arches.

The Columbo Group currently owns and runs a host of London bars and venues including The Nest, XOYO, The Cat & Mutton and The Blues Kitchen.

The closure comes at a time when venues across the UK are coming under threat from both developers and overzealous councils.

Two of London’s biggest nightclub brands Fabric and Ministry of Sound both came close to closing last year due to pressure from local residents and the council.

The news has seen a deluge of support on social media for the nightclub, which has been a staple of Brixton nightlife for over 10 years.

Columbo Group’s boss Steve Ball hasn’t revealed plans for the club yet, but did tell Brixton Buzz that they have “exciting plans in the mix” for the venue, and it would remain a nightclub but won’t be called Plan B anymore.

The Columbo Group more recently bought Electric Social bar and plans to turn that venue into the group’s third Blues Kitchen.
