U.S. DJ/producer Arthur Baker hasn’t collaborated with the members of his Rockers Revenge project in over 30 years.
Best known for their 1982 single ‘Walking on Sunshine’, the band comprised of Baker himself plus Donnie Calvin, Dwight Hawkes, Tina B and Adrienne Dupree Johnson have reformed with a brand new track to mark 15 years of Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels label.
Celebrating the label’s monumental 200th release, Baker and Rockers Revenge have teamed up for ‘On A Mission’, a track that channels the same post-disco energy of their seminal hit.
“To be able to reconnect and rekindle the special collaborative connection I had with rockers revenge after a 30 year hiatus has been a incredibly inspiring experience,” said Baker of the release. “The song conveys that peace and love can still be obtained through music.”
The single drops this Friday 8th June and comes with paired four alternative mixes, two from François K and two from Kompakt label co-founder Michael Mayer.
Michael Mayer’s remix takes the track out of the dazzling disco party and brings it into a vast, laser-filled warehouse, giving it a melodic deep house makeover while ensuring that none of the original mix’s soul is lost. You can hear it below.
