Shaq: 'I'm not a celebrity DJ, I've been doing it since the 80s'

And he made track with Biggie Smalls...

Basketball icon and actor Shaquille O'Neal has made it clear in an interview that he's not a celebrity DJ, and has in fact been doing it since the 80s.

The star got into his musical pedigree during Ebro Darden's recent Beats 1 show on Apple Music, revealing he also has the only recording of an unreleased track he made in the studio with The Notorious B.I.G, AKA Biggie Smalls.

"I’m the only one with a copy and it’ll never get released because I’ll never do it to him...he went in."

This year sees Shaq heading out on his own Summer of Shaq DJ tour, taking in Shanghai, Beijing, Miami, Chicago, Boston and Las Vegas amongst other cities. Evidently he wanted to set the record straight about when he first picked up the headphones.

"I just give them great music, with the way I put my blends and mixes together, and a lot of people — because they haven’t seen me do it — I guess they think I’m a celebrity DJ, but I've been doing it since 1986," he told listeners. "It's about having fun and putting on a show for the people."
