Disco Inferno

Photography exhibition and disco parties are go

Mirror balls at the ready! To celebrate the release of the forthcoming compilation, 'Deep Disco Culture Volume 2', out 19th November on Suss'd Records, an exhibition of New York photographer Allan Tenenbaum's work will be displayed in East London's Dray Walk Gallery, 1st – 4th November.

Tenenbaum's infamous photography book 'New York in the '70s' depicted the hedonistic, anything-goes NYC club scene of the time, focusing on disco and punk-funk hotspots like the Danceteria, Studio 54 and Mudd Club. Some of the most iconic shots from the series, which have also adorned the covers of the compilations, will be on show.

Featuring pics of Andy Warhol, Divine and the Rolling Stones amid scenes of glamour and debauchery, this exhibition will be the fi rst time that Tenenbaum's work has been shown in the UK, and promises to be a roadblock affair.

Two Deep Disco Culture club nights are also planned, bringing together some disco freak DJs to get their strut on. The fi rst will take place at Brick Lane's Vibe Bar on 26th October, with former Hacienda resident and electrodisco dude Greg Wilson featuring alongside the Moton Crew of Diesel, Dave Jarvis and Harvey.

The second at Draywalk Gallery on 4th Novemebr sees the Horsemeat Disco boys - James Stanton and James Hilliard - stepping up to get inside the groove, and they'll be continuing the party later at Horsemeat Disco's home, South Central in Vauxhall. It's like the disco era never ended!
