When Digital opened back in 2005 it was ambitiously christened the 'Fabric of The North' and it duly shot a slumbering Toon-side club scene into the zenith of clubbing technology. Bolstered by strategic banks of Funktion One stacks and a lighting system that would put most Hollywood sets to shame, the multi-million pound Digital is a tech-head's dream but is equally versed in the nuances of raw rave hedonism.

Each Saturday, the venue plays hosts to the pride of Newcastle clubbing - Shindig - with DJs like Hernan Cattaneo, Paul Woolford, Carl Cox, Steve Lawler and Satoshi Tomiie regulars at the clubbing institution.

On Fridays, nights like Turbulence and Wax:On cater for drum & bass heads, dubstep crew, nu ravers and indie dance kids, as DJs like Brodinski, Pendulum and Erol Alkan incite brocking and moshing.

"The soundsystem is one of the best in the country," believes Rekid's Spencer Parker. "Every time I have played for Shindig the atmosphere has been phenomenal and there's a heritage of musical quality that puts most UK clubs to shame."
