One of the newer players in the Dutch hardstyle scene, Psyko Punkz have made a big impact in a short time, storming into the Top 100 after being flagged up in the 'Breakthrough DJ/producer' category last year. “2011 was amazing,” say the duo. “Our main focus was to play as many gigs as we could and release as many tracks as possible.” A simple-but-effective strategy, which worked wonders, judging by reactions from festival audiences, (including 25,000 people at Hard Bass), who lapped up the stripped-back, industrial edge that they add to the chugging hardstyle paradigm. Next year, Psyko Punkz will be “going strong, like in 2011,” part of which involves a mysterious new development. “We are currently working on a real cool project that we can't say anything about yet. But our fans will see.” An intriguing prospect, and one that can only bolster Psyko Punkz' flourishing profile. TRISTAN PARKER
