hit back with what they do best; feature packed sound cards at bargain prices. The new Fast Track Ultra is a USB.2 soundcard that utilizes the higher bandwidth to provide 8x8 inputs and output channels. This equates to six channels of analog inputs and outputs plus 2-channel digital S/PDIF I/O, all running at 24-bit/96kHz audio resolution.

An important fact about the interface is that when the unit is operated using USB bus power, it cannot use all the inputs and outputs for recording. Only analog channels 1 and 2, S/PDIF I/O, and headphone output 1 are available. For the full 8 x 8 operation it's essential to use the included power supply.

More features include four 'Octane' mic pre-amps, dedicated inserts on the first two channels and two sets of headphone outputs.

Expect it to hit the shops in December with a maximum price tag of £279.
