DJ Vibe may have slipped down the poll but he remains a true veteran of underground club culture and a consistent crusader for the scene in his native Portugal. Counting this year as his 26th behind the decks, Vibe - aka Antonio Pereira - has been involved in the growth of just about every significant club in his homelands. Back in the late-'80s and early-'90s, his marathon sets at Lisbon's Kremlin were the stuff of local legend with the likes of Danny Tenaglia, Carl Cox and John Digweed soon lauding his talents. Formerly part of the Underground Sound of Lisbon outfit with Rui Da Silva, DJ Vibe scored a bonafide progressive classic with '94's 'So Get Up' and continues to plough a sound that is as deep as it is driving with headline sets across the globe. "There have been some great moments this year," he tells us. "The Fresh party at Miami WMC was amazing, playing Space Ibiza opening is always a memorable experience but there have been some great parties back in my home city too - the Rock In Rio closing party was awesome." Something of a celebrated national treasure himself, DJ Vibe also picked up Best Producer and Best DJ awards in the Portuguese press this year, whilst also unloading the two killer productions on Chus & Ceballos's Stereo imprint, teaming up with DJ Chus for the 'Energy Flash' styled cymbal crashes of 'Amtrak' and Carlos Fauvrelle on the pumping tech-tribal 'Hot Room'.
