Questions Top100 DJs 2008 - admin - 2015-06-30 17:25

Style:
All forms of techno and house classics.
Best known for:
Interacting and dancing with the people.
Tune of the year:
Underworld's 'Hold The Moth (Audio Jack Mixes)' (Side One)
Producer of 2008:
Davide Squillace and Luca Bacchetti.
First record you ever brought:
Manu Dibango's LP 'Soul Makossa' with 'New Bell' on the flip.
Weirdest thing you've seen all year:
I sincerely do not mean to appear morbid, but I have to be 100% honest. It was the sudden loss of my dear mother.
Top gadget of 2008:
A satellite TV box. After eight years of coming to Ibiza, I've been able to have normal evenings off in a proper living room. One can only wank so much, you know?
Your year in five words...:
Be, Space Ibiza Thursdays, successful!
Most important thing you've learnt recently:
That my younger brother and his wife are expecting their second child — wondrous news that our entire family needed in '08.

As the Top 100 DJs poll comes around we catch Danny Tenaglia in a reflective mood, following the loss of his mother. "But the highpoint of the year would be standing on the soil where I'm speaking to you from right now," he says. "It's a beautiful condominium overlooking a beautiful view of Ibiza Town on a clear sunny day. It's a wonderful place to wake up to." Tenaglia's 30th year behind the decks is the first year he's been a resident DJ in Ibiza, his Thursday session Be clocking up success that has even shocked him. He thought that 2008 would "for certain" be the year that he'd move to Serato or Traktor but he still hasn't felt the attachment. "I'm not saying never but I'd miss flipping through the vinyl or CDs," he says. And there was a return to vinyl and CDs in the form of 'Futurism', his first mix album in five years and first track -'The Space Dance' - in two years, both very well received and exhibiting his growing interest in a darker, more twisted techno sound to complement his tribal tag and roots in all things house.
