Questions Top100 DJs 2007 - admin - 2015-06-30 17:27

Style:
I used to be known as an electro DJ but now I'm somewhere between house, minimal and electro.
Best known for:
'Put Your Hands Up For Detroit'
Tune of the year:
Samin 'Heater'
Breakthrough DJ/Producer of 2007:
Funkerman (my long-time studio partner) and Rene Amez, who did very well in Ibiza this summer.
Your musical inspiration:
Hip-hop and old funk like Parliament and Bootsy Collins.
Best festival on the planet:
It used to be Dance Valley but I think it's shifted to Mysteryland, which is also in Holland.
Best bit of kit:
The Pioneer 800 mixer. Its gadgets, like filters, delays, effects and sampling, make your set more interesting.
What tune makes you cry:
I try not to listen to anything that makes me sad.
Naughtiest thing you've done this year:
I've been pretty good actually because I've been working my arse off.

Like most apparently overnight successes, Fedde Le Grand has in fact paid his dues, putting in years as a DJ around his native Holland - where his Sneakerz parties are legendary - as well as Germany and Belgium.

But it was his unavoidable 'Put Your Hands Up For Detroit' track that turned him into a name of global proportions, cleaning up last summer in Ibiza before zooming to the UK's No.1 slot in November 2006.
Eminem's mighty D12 crew were so impressed they even penned a vocal version, but Fedde quickly proved he had more tricks up his sleeve, as his remix of Camille Jones' 'The Creeps' followed 'Detroit...' into the UK's Top 10.

Currently working on his debut album - "I'm about half way through" - on his trusty laptop as he jets from country to country (he's been to China, America and across Europe this year), it surely won't be long before we hear more from the Motor City's biggest fan.
