Quick, think of some Danish exports. Carlsberg, Danepak bacon… Stuck? Then thank the shiny lands of lasers, gurners and glowsticks for Daniel Kandi. And you can forget about 'probably', for anyone who kneels at the altar of trance will rate Kandi as most definitely the best thing to come out of Denmark in years. Epic in scale, emotional in content and intricate in its production, Kandi's energised sound has marked him out as one to watch ever since his universally caned anthem 'Breathe' emerged in 2006. But three years on, he feels that he's finally getting recognised as a potent DJ force within the global trance community. "People are starting to see me as a DJ as well as a producer, which is great," he beams. "I opened Nature One festival in Germany, which was amazing, played the ferry club of Monday Bar Cruise in Sweden, and recently played the Fresh Squeezed Festival in LA, infront of 4000 people." Following the soaring interest in his most recent anthem on Anjunabeats, 'Venice Beach', Kandi is now looking forward to collaborating with fellow trance boundary-pusher Sean Tyas, before getting down to his debut artist album. "I hope it is appreciated for not being too banging," he explains. "I'm only going to make five really strong trance tunes then more than half the album will be very atmospheric."
