Bollocks to Poverty!

Famed DJs back charity campaign and reveal their dream gigs

DJs including Carl Cox, D.Ramirez, Judge Jules, Basement Jaxx, Eddie Halliwell, Booka Shade, Sister Bliss and Fedde Le Grand are all showing their support for Action Aid's Bollocks to Poverty campaign.

The DJs have clubbed together to encourage other DJs, promoters and party animals to put on their own events to raise money for Action Aid, a charity which aims to fight poverty and injustice across Africa, Asia and the Americas. Action Aid will provide Bollocks to Poverty posters, flyers, visuals, giveaways and a web page to promote your event, which could be anything from a warehouse rave to a club night or just a big house party.

The DJs involved have also spilled the beans on their ultimate DJ gig – what they'd do if time and money was no object. There were some suitably brilliant and way-out responses.

"I've played all the fantasy parties I've ever wanted, trust me, I've done it all.
I think if I was to play for a party now it would have to be for my family and friends. And the music I'd play? Well I'd play a bit of Dolly Parton for my Mum, and some Elvis, it'd be a good mix, she'd be completely up for it!" smiled Carl Cox. D.Ramirez, meanwhile, reckoned that, "Jonny Lydon and Pete Burns would be on my dream guest list. I'd have to invite Pete as I'm going to work with him soon. We'd have it on Skegness beach, I love Skeggy! And we'd end the night off with 'I've Got a Brand New Combine Harvester' by The Wurzels!"

Booka Shade had a slightly more conventional idea.

"Our ideal party would have to be in Ibiza of course! We'd invite Brigitte Bardot, (but when she was younger!), Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode and Prince for a touch of glamour and Laurent Garnier to play the decks, ending the night with his track – 'The Man With the Red Face'!"
