BEATBOX: VIDEO ESSENTIALS FROM TENAGLIA, CHARLES MURDOCH, MONKEY SAFARI

We wrap up this month's videos!

PJU & Earl Grey ‘call Me Up’ (DJ Mag Premiere)

'Call Me Up’ clapped, stabbed and stomped it's way on to the DJ Mag YouTube channel this month. The track was given the STVN/STRM (that’s Steven Storm for those out the loop —we’ve only just entered the loop too) treatment and blends colourful, weird, unsettling and trippy themes, including a touch of humour to make this video a must-watch.

Sau Poler 'Juun' (DJ Mag Premiere)

For something a little deeper and more meaningful, look no further than Sau Poler’s touching, pad-swallowing ‘Juun’. Jazzy hat work and percussive space, steamy, muted melodies and Burial-esque vocal sampling are why this is an absolute beauty. Video producer/director, Joan Gausch also adds a sublime visual aid with seductive monochrome. We premiered this back in late April but the combination of music and video keep us coming back.

Charles Murdoch 'Straws'

‘Straws’ is the first single from upcoming LP ‘Point’, on Future Classic, and marks a return from a two-year hiatus for Australian producer, Charles Murdoch. The music is paired with an intriguing video set in Germany, that follows a group of men training hard, drinking hard and generally looking hard, until a twist in the story turns things completely on their head. A brilliant, surprising video and an incredible comeback track from the Brisbane native.

Monkey Safari 'Cranes'

This excellent visual story is something we cannot stop watching! 'Cranes' has received a remix by Kölsch and Wolf + Lamb, but the original has taken somewhat of a backseat since it's release. Falko Gerlinghoff, Paul Arne Meyer and Johannes Westermann take credit for this stunning music clip, with the video focusing on, well, cranes (the feathered variety), which sounds odd — and it is — but compliments the beautiful melancholy of this track perfectly.

Terriers 'Serpio 800'

Dublin pair, Terriers, offer up an excellent film clip with this found-footage style video for their track 'Serpio 800'. Airy mid-range chords and non-descript vocal splashes find their place, whilst the Detroit-rooted, dancefloor centric synth’s combine to keep this stomping happily along. It’s taken from their Rhythm Nation release, the ‘Octagon’ EP, available now.

Danny Tenaglia & DJ W!LD Live DJ HQ Sessions DJ Set

We were lucky enough to welcome two superb selectors at DJ Mag Sessions in our HQ last month — the legendary New York DJ extraordinaire, Danny Tenaglia, and inimitable French talent, DJ W!LD. No explanation needed, just watch it!
