Point Blank Present Joe Goddard Interview at Sónar+D: Creativity & Songwriting

Point Blank travelled to Sonar +D in Barcelona this summer to host two very special sessions, featuring as an official part of the programming at this internationally renowned festival. Finishing the day’s events and bringing in the festival weekend which featured the likes of DJ Shadow and Carl Craig, they sat down with Hot Chip co-founder Joe Goddard. With Joe also being one-half of 2 Bears and label head of Greco-Roman, this video gives an exclusive insight into the creative process of one of the UK’s most well-respected electronic artists. Interviewed by Point Blank’s Carly Hordern in conjunction with Native Instruments, Joe speaks about his influences growing up, explaining how being brought up in London affected his eclectic musical taste and subsequently his own productions before going on to dive into his track ‘Music is the Answer’. Using the track as an example, Joe shares some essential songwriting techniques, discussing how the record came about and how he began to work on it, talking around the importance of collaboration within his music making process.
