In Point Blank’s latest track breakdown, they were joined by 20-year-old DJ & Producer whizz-kid, Curbi, to unveil the secrets behind his killer track ‘Whip It’.

Curbi rose to fame in the bass-house scene at just 16-years-old, following his signing with the world-renowned dance music label Spinnin’ Records. His breakthrough debut single, ‘Discharge’, exploded, seeing the young producer racking up millions of plays and dominating dance floors globally – and he didn’t stop there. He remains in the spotlight, churning out hit after hit such as the anthems ‘Shinai’, ’51’, ‘Playground’, ‘Rude’, ‘Polar’, ‘Booti’ and, of course, ‘Whip it’. This bruising bass-house anthem was released on Dim Mak back in 2018 and features Curbi’s signature nerve-shredding basslines. It’s packed with club bounce from start to finish and sees the producer sampling his own vocals into one helluva hook.

Check out Point Blank’s video with Curbi and don’t forget, you can learn about all of the techniques demonstrated in it with their production classes in London.

During the track breakdown, Curbi fires up his DAW of choice, FL Studio, and shows how he created the catchy vocal hook which laid the foundations of ‘Whip It’. Using his synth plugin of choice, NI’s Massive, he demonstrates how he created the tracks blistering bassline by layering a number of different components before delving into how he created the build-up. If you’re familiar with Curbi’s tracks, you’ll know he likes to keep them sounding fresh by switching up the beats and the bass. He drops a few tips on how he does this, too. Before the video wraps the producer shares some important tips on how to finish your tracks and keep your ideas sounding fresh.
