DJ MAG DIGITAL GUIDE

Everything you ever need to know about pitching to DJ Mag!

ONLINE PREMIERES – THE LOWDOWN
From now on, DJ Mag will only premiere ONE track per day. A premiere via the DJ Mag website and soundcloud includes the following:

+ An upload to our soundcloud page (we do not premiere tracks unless we host them)
+ A news story on the site in our ‘Comin Up’ section
+ Where appropriate, a Q&A with the artist (please make sure the artist is keen for a quick chat before you pitch)
+ A tweet to announce the track (please provide twitter handles you would like tagged)
+ A Facebook post (limited tracks only at the discretion of DJ Mag’s head of digital

FORMAT FOR PITCHING
+ Please provide ALL of the following collateral for consideration with ALL pitches: press release, high res press pics and packshots, artist bio and socials, links to pre-order/buy sites if applicable, suggested run date, private soundcloud link with downloads enabled in 320 or fatdrop etc.
+ Please do not send dropbox/wetransfer links to music, we want to stream straight away and downloads are time consuming.
+ NOTE ON PICS: Professional images of DJs at festivals/events that are fun and see them engaging with an audience are a big bonus. We want something nice to look at on the site, not just boring headshots!

HOW ABOUT VIDEO PREMIERES?
Yes, send ‘em in! DJ Mag is looking for pitches for exclusive video content (music videos, festival movies etc) for our youtube channel. Video premieres are currently set at one or two videos per week, but this quota is flexible for the right content. Video content will receive the same treatment as a soundcloud premiere – news story, tweet etc.

PODCASTS, EXCLUSIVE MIXES, FREE DOWNLOADS & DJ MAG OFFICE STREAMS
+ DJ Mag podcast: we’re always looking for suggestions for our Weekly Podcast series. Please note these podcasts are for free download via soundcloud. If selected, the artist will need to turn thepodcast around in 7 – 10 days from commission date (the faster the better) and provide a full tracklist as well as normal PR collateral. The podcast is uploaded on Fridays so make it a weekend worthy mix!

+ Exclusive mixes: The exclusive mix series is usually for higher profile artists with considerable traction behind them. We also occasionally except live mixes recorded from venues if strong enough.

+ Free downloads: Same deal as online premieres and receive the same coverage on our platforms.

+ DJ Mag stream: Is one of your artists in town? Suggest them for the DJ Mag office stream on a Friday. Keep in mind that if they have played the stream in the last 6 months or have played recently for a competitor, they will be discounted.

WHAT TIMEFRAME ARE WE TALKIN’?
Tracks that are pitched further than 3 weeks away from the digital release date will NOT be considered. Please don’t pitch something that’s dropping in 2 months time or, on the flipside, tomorrow.

NOTE: ALL PREMIERES REQUIRE A TWO WEEK LEAD TIME

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE MUSIC EDITORS?
As most of you know, Adam Saville and Ben Murphy are our music editors. Any music REVIEW pitches –that’s for the ‘Music’ section of the website or anything in print – should go directly to them. Adam is also our On The Floor editor. For content related to this section of the site, please email him directly.
