Robert Hood was a member of Underground Resistance, the legendary militant visionary techno collective from Detroit. After leaving UR in the early 1990s, Robert pioneered a minimalist form of techno — along with Daniel Bell, Richie Hawtin etc — in reaction to the increasingly hardcore “too ravey” twists and turns that techno was taking.

Luke Solomon’s quirky house sound is as British as buttered toast, and equally tasty.

“I never latch on to one particular trend when it comes to music,” says Luke Solomon. We’re talking about the New Jersey house revival currently pumping energy bubbles into the British underground house scene. And the reason we’re talking about it is because old school New Jersey house, says Luke, is something he loved and lived through the first time round.

X-Press 2 were one of the principal house acts in the early '90s, rocking the floors with cuts like post-hardcore progressive house cut 'Muzik Xpress' — with its memorable “Music, music, music” refrain — and the cowbell-tastic 'London Xpress'. The trio of acid house originals — Rocky, Diesel and Ashley Beedle — went their separate ways for a while in the late '90s, before coming back together just before the Millennium.
