Outspoken 'House Gangster' DJ Sneak was part of the second wave of Chicago house DJs alongside Derrick Carter, Green Velvet and Paul Johnson. Now based in Toronto, Canada, he says he misses his old friends and places to go out to eat and drink, but catches up with most of them in Miami at the WMC anyway.

He lives on the outskirts of Stockholm, Sweden. His studio is just a hop, skip and jump away in the city, or in the summertime he can take a chilled cycle jaunt through the park to get there. Every day is a day in the studio for John, where he’ll be doing what he does in a superlative fashion, producing and remixing the kind of lustrous tech house, trance-tinged music he’s known for, and in recent years has been nominated for – that’ll be a US Grammy and a BRIT award.


“I know what you mean, like on ‘Forest Funk’. I played that guitar! I just do what feels right. I mean, I’ve grown up around great music, especially jazz and funk and of course drum & bass, garage and everything else. I just like to play around. I’ll play with any instrument that I can get my hands on. A little bit of madness. I like to try and get my head working crazy, to make crazy music.”
