One more toon!

From a 150-capacity venue above a pub in Newcastle called Red Rooms to Room Three at Fabric, Jaunt> has come a long way over the past six years. Shaped by the underground Newcastle nights that came before it — the likes of Shindig, Wax On, Habit and Error — the night was originally conceived to cater for the DJs that weren't getting booked in the city, while providing an outlet for a crew of clued-up students “who would take up a large chunk of any dancefloor,” says Chris Blackhall, the man who suggested a party in the first place.

Heidi might have dished out wax at Phonica, Damian Lazarus once a crime reporter for The Sun and Laurent Garnier was a chef before taking on the world's noisiest rooms, but not all clubland's most wanted have lived such notable lives.

Part of the Culprit crew, London DJ/producer Jozif was asked last year if he wanted to mix the latest instalment in the highly respected 'Balance' CD series. Get Physical's latest prize signing!

And now… Wankelmut! No sniggering at the back there! Wankelmut is the name that new German DJ/producer Jacob Dilssner has adopted for his productions, and DJ Mag is trying hard to suppress laughter when first quizzing Wankelmut about his, err, handy moniker.

Shedding the light on Adam Shelton's bar

We're all aware of UK clubland's biggest churches. The Ministries, Fabrics and Sankeys, where we find ourselves throwing shapes each weekend – our eyes saucers, faces a contorted mess.
