Last night, Noir took to the Essential Mix decks for an exclusive two hour mix. The Danish DJ, producer and owner of the Noir Music imprint has helped to push real house music back into the mainstream consciousness over the last couple of years. This is the first time he has recorded an essential mix.

Speaking about the mix, Armin said "'With the current trend of giving DJ's only one hour slots at big festivals, I was extremely excited to hear Radio 1 wanted me to do a three hour set for a special Essential Mix. It's been a while since I did my last studio mix so I decided to make something special for you.

Tim Simenon of Bomb The Bass, his late '80s-formed project that had a big hit with early sampling record 'Beat Dis', has been talking to DJ Mag about his new band project, Ghost Capsules. 
“Doing Ghost Capsules is simply another way of exploring different areas of music that I enjoy,” Tim says.

The BBC Radio One 'Future Stars of 2013' continued last night as drum & bass noisemaker, Metrik took to the Essential Mix controls.

“Time is always my biggest battle,” states voice of the dance music nation, Pete Tong. “Finding the time to do it all and have the right head space to listen to so much music, you have to be on the case!” And he certainly was on the case again in 2012, picking up the DJ Mag gong for Best Radio Show for his tireless work on the Essential Selection each and every week.
