David Morales took ravers back to the early nineties during a recent interview. While reminiscing about his first summers on the White Isle, the New York-house legend made it a point to call out the island’s shifting priorities: “Ibiza in the ‘90s was all about the music and not about catering for VIPs”.
According to Morales, 25 years ago, it was club brands that ultimately drove crowds, not the VIPs nor the artists themselves: “It was more about the brand back in those days. Cream, Manumission, Renaissance, Money Penny's and Ministry of Sound.”
David Morales spins at Liverpool Disco Festival tomorrow (Saturday 6th May), and to celebrate the occasion he’s delivered a sublime DJ Mag exclusive mix. You can listen to it below.
