Mad Decent Block Party is celebrating the 10th anniversary this summer, but maybe not in the way you’d expect.
The 2017 edition of the touring pop-up festival will be limited to two stops, one in Philadelphia on Friday 7th July and the other in Colorado on Sunday 3rd September.
As a result of an oversaturated market, the organisers are pulling back considerably from their 15-tour run in 2016.
In a recent interview with GQ, Diplo gave some advice to would-be touring DJs on how to survive a life on the road and in the air.
The biggest rookie mistake that any touring DJ can make according to Diplo is checking your bags in, "you never want to do that. Travel as lightly as possible. You don’t want to waste your time with girls. Girls are on the road are a waste of time."
EDC Las Vegas 2017 is just over a week away and Insomniac Presents has now released the daily line-ups across all eight stages. The party launches 16th June at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and runs through 18th June.
Friday highlights include Chris Liebing, Andy C, Zedd, Major Lazer, and Hardwell. Mr. Carmack, Kygo, Alesso, Oliver Heldens, Jamie Jones, and Lee Foss are just some of the talents setting the vibes on Saturday. Paul Van Dyk, Low Steppa, DJ Khaled, Marshmello, and Flosstradamus will be shutting things down on Sunday.
Major Lazer decided to surprise release a new EP this week. Entitled ‘Know No Better’, the six-track release shares the name of the lauded Travis Scott-featuring single.
The group’s first extended effort since 2015’s ‘Peace Is The Mission’, it’s 19-minutes of run time is packed with talent. Sean Paul, Busy Signal, Quavo, Nasty_C and Jidenna are just a few that were tapped by Diplo and co. to assist on their fresh offering.
Diplo and Lil Yachty have released their new collaboration, ‘Forever Young’. You can listen to it below.
The track forms part of Lil Yachty’s debut album, which also features Migos and Evander Griim, amongst others.
Mumble rap fans breathe a sigh of release as the track is surprisingly very un-EDM, featuring a laid back and elated hip-hop groove – the perfect for the string of summer anthem remixes to come.
Major Lazer and Houston-bred rapper Travis Scott will once again be sharing record credits. The latter using his stage time during Alabama's Hangout Music Festival to preview new collaborative effort 'Know No Better'.
Diplo would later take to Instagram to confirm the new joint single. Scott shares credits on “Know No Better” with Starrah, Camila Cabello, and Migos’ Quavo.
Scott had previously been featured on 2015 Major Lazer single ‘Night Riders’.
Diplo dropped his Justin Bieber, Young Thug and Rich the Kid collaboration last week, titled ‘Bankroll’.
After the track received a lukewarm response online, some of which you can see below – and others that Diplo retweeted himself – the track was removed from the Major Lazer man’s SoundCloud page.
It’s unclear whether the track was removed due to the negative response online – make you own mind up by listening to an internet user’s rip of the track below.
Both Diplo and Marshmello are scheduled to play EDC Las Vegas 2017 this summer — but if you can't get tickets for EDC fear not as both EDM superstars will be going b2b at XS nightclub in Las Vegas during EDC week too, it has been revealed today.
Spotted by fans of both artists online, Diplo and Marshmello have since both confirmed via their respective social media accounts that they'll be going b2b on Monday 19th July, the day after the festival officially finishes.
