From a 150-capacity venue above a pub in Newcastle called Red Rooms to Room Three at Fabric, Jaunt> has come a long way over the past six years. Shaped by the underground Newcastle nights that came before it — the likes of Shindig, Wax On, Habit and Error — the night was originally conceived to cater for the DJs that weren't getting booked in the city, while providing an outlet for a crew of clued-up students “who would take up a large chunk of any dancefloor,” says Chris Blackhall, the man who suggested a party in the first place.

“First club gig, I was like 16 in my hometown Warrington, a club called Casi that we all used to go to, they would just let anyone in. No monitors and I had to cart my own decks down, but it really gave me a taste for playing in front of people and on a big soundsystem.”

Inspired by the “boîtes” of the '70s and '80s, KER is Barcelona's new 1200-capacity club from the creators of Elrow and Monegros Festival. Rising to fill the gap left by the closure of Viladecans at Row 14, the terrace space utilized by Elrow each week, the venue aims to bring high-end dance music to a city already steeped in house and techno heritage.
