We are super-hyped to announce the line up for our 2016 Miami Music Week Pool Party, at The Surfcomber on South Beach!
This year’s event, which takes place on Wednesday 16th March, promises to be our best yet! As always, we like to represent all shades of dance music at this showcase event. So its underground house and techno during the day, and then big-room after dark!
And, as always, we’ll have some surprises for you along the way!
Representing the big room sound are current Top 100 DJs champs Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, alongside Steve Aoki, DVBBS & R3hab.
Marco Carola is an enigma. In a rare interview, the Italian techno DJ/producer and Music On promoter talks to DJ Mag about record shopping in London in his formative years, his upbringing in Napoli and his steady upward trajectory into becoming one of the biggest techno DJs in the world...
Some things in life are certain: the sun will rise; parking is futile when you’re already late; and Art Basel Miami will be exhausting in the most thrilling way. The annual Basel migration to Miami Beach each winter brings nearly 80,000 aficionados from all walks of life, seeking all types of art, from murals to music. Walls are splattered with paint and battered by beats; sheikhs dock their boats while tattooed kids park their bikes.
It goes without saying that Marco Carola is techno royalty. Our August cover star and Italian techno legend has just announced his return to North America, bringing Music On for the third year in a row to Story nightclub in Miami.
Mark Knight is a man on a mission. The Toolroom Records founder brings his signature chunky beats and addictive grooves to Miami wherever he plays, moving floors and filling rooms, be it at Ultra or Space. Tonight, he’s in town to tell a new story. On an unusually humid October evening in South Beach, the veteran readies himself to drive the decks at STORY Miami, a club he has yet to grace.
Josh Butler has been making music since he was 11 years old. At age 25, that means he’s been producing for the better part of 15 years. Although the North England native’s major breakthrough didn’t come until 2012, both his music and his live sets reflect a maturity that is a result of all those years spent listening and learning. Josh’s Ibiza residency at Sankeys for Magna Carta, recent appearance at Amnesia with Bontan, tour with the legendary Nile Rodgers and sets at Europe’s biggest festivals all underscore his growing success.
This DJ Mag reporter set a personal Miami record last night. In bed by midnight and a whopping 10 hours sleep. Still, he isn’t getting any younger and today’s schedule is jammed.
A perfectly seasoned chicken, red pepper and avocado sandwich poolside is washed down gratefully with a cold beer while we edit, type away and send rapid-fire emails organising various interviews and shoots with DJs tomorrow.
DJ Mag took over the Surfcomber Hotel in Miami Beach yesterday for an epic, all-day knees-up with our favourite acts from around the globe! We’re here to celebrate Miami Music Week – an annual dance music conference that sets up shop in the Florida capital each March — with the waterside venue decked out with branded beach balls and a crystal clear swimming pool in the center.
It’s not the first time DJ Mag has thrown its famed MMW party at The Surfcomber, with past events featuring acts including MK, Kevin Saunderson and Bob Sinclar.
Digitally Imported offer a rather cool streaming service — some would say similar to the likes of Spotify and Deezer. However, DI differs as it is aimed directly at the electronic dance music lover and its content is curated by an army of loyal house music fans, meaning that the music on offer is always going to be of the highest order.
The madness kicks off this Thursday 26th March with DJs Carnage and Asoc, who’ve drafted in their favourite big room pals including Dutch house don, Chuckie and Australian duo, Nervo.
