It’s the news everyone’s been hoping for... the Ibiza season is being extended by the team behind legendary nightlife brand Sankeys, who have announced that they’ll be opening the club on 1st May for a mammoth six-month run.
Its doors will remain open until 31st October for a gigantic closing fiesta - a massive three day Halloween festival weekend kicking off with Tribal Sessions’ closing party on the 29th and other events dotted around the island.
Whereas other Ibiza clubs can often be achingly sterile and controlled environments, Sankeys has always prided itself on being that bit different and doing things in its own inimitable way. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, but what can’t be doubted is the promoter’s dedication to the scene.
Electronic music has always led the way when it comes to technology and innovation. Pioneers such as Kraftwerk, Jeff Mills and Carl Cox have all irrevocably changed how we view the musical landscape, in the process setting a new benchmark in terms of sound and musical capabilities.
Four nights from last season at Sankeys Ibiza carry over from last summer.
To close a record-breaking season (the club posted 50% growth in 2014), Sankeys Ibiza has announced arguably its biggest string of line-ups to date.
The year that saw the Manchester motherlode reach 20 years was also the same year that the Ibizan sister welcomed Duke Dumont's Blasé Boys Club for regular nights alongside FUSE, ViVa Warriors, Magna Carta, Flying Circus, Next Wave and Tribal Sessions.
Opened on the island by Danny Tenaglia on Wednesday 21st May, Tribal Sessions is Darius Syrossian and Sankeys owner David Vincent's latest venture.
"We don't want to create a brand. We want to create a movement."
Now that Miami is out of the way, all eyes are on the Ibiza season. The results in this year’s Top 100 Clubs poll, powered by Miller Genuine Draft have shown us that Ibiza is back in prime position as the world’s ultimate clubbing destination.
One of the key factors behind this resurgence - besides the global popularity of dance music - is the fact that Ibiza has developed a willingness for change and evolution.
