Throwing Snow will release a new EP through longtime label home Houndstooth next month.
Titled 'The Death of Pragmatism', the four-track EP is described as "politically-charged" and references the work of Austrian philosopher Kurt Gödel and American social psychologist Jonathan Haidt’s book 'The Righteous Mind', from which one of the tracks takes its title.
The EP follows on from the British producer's 2018 album, Embers', as well as a trio of digital-only EPs that he released last year via Houndstooth.
Ross Tones’ output strides a fine line between introspective and energised, often leaning hard on one side or the other, like a tightrope walker keeping their onlookers transfixed. Over the past decade, the UK producer has been mind bogglingly prolific, both on a solo scale as Throwing Snow and as a member of celebrated electronic trio, Snow Ghosts. With a formidable catalog behind him, then, it's easy to understand how his sonic acrobatics have become so widely respected.
Hey Ross. How’s it going? How has 2018 been treating you? What have been some personal highlights?
"Tip top thanks. 2018’s been good so far. Moved in to my new studio, been writing loads, released the 'A Future Without' 11 year compilation and was pretty chuffed to win a Music Week award with Snow Ghosts."
Ever consistent London-based producer Throwing Snow will release his new EP on Fabric’s Houndstooth label this Friday 18th May.
‘Myriad / Minotaurs’ is the third release on Houndstooth from the prolific producer this year, following the brutal bass driven ‘Simmer / Subtitles’ and ‘Trébucher / Tantrum’.
Throwing Snow made big waves this year with his debut album 'Mosaics' and he's about to return with his new 'Avarice' EP which comes out at the beginning of December. At the moment though it's all about this fantastic remix of Submotion Orchestra's new single 'Trust/Lust'.
Deep and creepin', Throwing Snow's cold bassy styles are complimented perfectly by the live aspects of Submotion Orchestra — the chopped vocals in particular make this track something special.
