More than thirty acts have been confirmed for Ibiza’s most famous closing party - Space Closing Fiesta. The event, which takes place on Sunday October 5th, concludes the club’s 25th anniversary - in a year that was made extra special by their reclaiming of the Top 100 Clubs crown.
Carl Cox started DJing when he was just nine-years-old at the request of his dad, who would let him stay up late if he picked out the records for his parties at home.
“I was playing Wilson Pickett and Isaac Hayes and all of this music, Dolly Parton, quite eclectic,” he tells us.
Standing as arguably the world’s most renowned and respected club, voted No.1 club in the world by DJ Mag readers earlier this year, Space Ibiza has now reached its 25th birthday.
Over the course of its many years, Space has continuously showcased the greatest artists in dance music to the island’s biggest crowds and has long reigned as one of the definitive and most sought-after Ibiza hotspots.
To celebrate 10 years of his residency at Space in 2011, Carl Cox played a 10-hour non-stop set in the Discoteca. Last year, to commemorate 12 years, the night ran for 12 dates. This year, however, for no particular reason — other than to beat all that's come before — he's playing a 10-hour set to open the season AND the night is running not for 13 nights to celebrate the number of years Revolution has now run — that'd be far too easy — he's added not one, but two additional nights to take the party toll to 14!
Having kept eager fans on the edge of their seats for quite some time, releasing an additional headlining name each week, The Social festival’s roster is now almost complete with a list of names that promises to bring an end-of-summer slice of Ibiza to Mote Park in Maidstone, Kent on Saturday 13th September.
Festival season is finally here! Meaning UK clubbers can enjoy a large-scale outdoor dance event without having to jet to Mexico, Miami or Goa — but don't expect the same weather
Festival formation may have slowed, much to do with the growing booking power of those already established, but large events in English fields are still as common as muck on a Glasto campsite.
Set in Holland, Awakenings is arguably the world's largest outdoor techno festival, and they've just added a whole load of names for their 14th annual event. Holland isn't just about EDM – oh no!
Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, has just announced details of his special Brazil-themed compilation album — 'Bem Brazil'. The comp features a wealth of Fatboy's international DJ associates and is designed to soundtrack this summer's World Cup finals in Brazil.
Some of the new tracks on the comp are built around samples from classic Brazilian music, so DJ Fresh is contributing a new take on the Sergio Mendes's samba-happy anthem 'Magdalena'.
