Following a debate, Cook County — the Illinois municipality which covers the city of Chicago — is set to officially recognise DJ shows as cultural contributions.
The decision will affect a current law which allows venues of below 750-capacity exemption from a 3% tax on admission fees for "live cultural performances".

Conan was caught "doing comedy" by DJ and club regular The Black Madonna, who posted a snap of the star on her Instagram account.

In a new report published by Thump, Shapes founder Seb Glover has claimed that the Hackney Wick venue was shut down by local authorities as part of plans to redevelop the area.
Shapes, which served as a music venue, studios for hire and community centre (even holding educational and creative programmes in local schools), was closed earlier this year following an alleged sexual assualt at a private party back in March.
