Oh yes! Sven Vath's Cocoon is back at Amnesia for a whopping 17th season on the White Isle with the opening party set to kick off on 30th May.
For the third year running, Sven invites German DJ don Dixon to join him in the Terrace, whilst Ilario Alicante, Gaiser (Live) and Scottish duo Slam hold down the Club Room.
Other confirmed acts include Adam Beyer, Âme, Ben Klock, Ben Ufo, Butch, Carl Craig, Carola Pisaturo, Craig Richards, Dana Ruh, Dixon, DJ Koze, Dorian Paic, Dubfire, Einzelkind, Guy Gerber, Ida Engberg, Ilario Alicante, Joris Voorn, Luciano, and many more.
KiNK and KÖLSCH have been enlisted to remix two classic Sven Väth tracks for a new EP that celebrates Cocoon’s 20th anniversary.
KiNK has remixed 1992’s ‘Accident In Paradise’, whilst Danish techno-with-feels don KÖLSCH has remixed ‘Robot’, which is taken from the 1994 album 'The Harlequin, The Robot And The Ballet-Dancer'.
You can hear snippets of both tracks below which clock in at a weighty nine-minutes each.
BigCityBeats World Club Dome is set to expand their event catalogue this year, with a brand-new event, titled WCD POOL Sessions, kicking off on 4th and 5th June at the Stadionbad swimming baths in Frankfurt, Germany.
The swimming baths — a 200,000-m² water park complex surrounded by trees and greenery — will play host to a slew of international selectors over the two-day event, with Diynamic and Cocoon set to present parties on the Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Now a regular member of the Cocoon family, UK DJ and producer Tim Green is back with a third EP for the famed techno imprint.
The follow-up to Green’s Best Of British- nominated single ‘Eclipse’ that was spun en masse in Ibiza last summer, ‘Among Wolves’ is a blistering two-tracker of typical, Green-style genius — as the saying goes, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!
This is biological club music with an intelligent twist. The title track sores with dubbed-out chords and slick kicks, whilst ‘Over The Water’ is chock-full of woozy atmospherics.
Bicep, Koze and Woolford are just a few names that have become reassuringly prevalent in our end-of-year pages in recent times — and, yes, there's some new names too.
While naturally we've focused on tunes that have made the biggest splash, there is, of course, extra points for ongoing consistency. Just because a track by an artist included in the top 10 isn't your personal favourite, it doesn't mean others haven't been taken into account and considered.
Cocoon begins and ends with love; a reflection of the White Isle herself. We find ourselves surrounded by it. It beams down from the rafters, stuffed into corners, seeping across the floor; tightly wrapped around bodies in an ode to the party’s namesake. Love is in the music, carefully selected and set forth by the master himself during Sven Väth’s 8-hour vinyl set. Love is outside in the smoking section where bleary-eyed ravers sit huddled on the pavement, chatting, laughing, sharing bottles of water and stories.
In the first of a new feature series, we ask top DJs to describe their first experiences at the one and only Cocoon in Ibiza. Stepping up to the plate to kick things off are house outfit Grzegorz and Wojciech AKA Catz ‘N Dogz, and the Polish producers — who now play there regularly — run us through that first magical moment...
