“I think having long-term relationships and working with people through tough periods and them staying with you — and you staying with them — is probably something I'm really proud of,” Defected's managing director and big chief daddio, Simon Dunmore, tells DJ Mag when asked to reflect on the label's impressive 17-year history.
In a new series of web videos, Defected are exploring the record collections of legendary DJs — to start off, disco hero Dave Lee, aka Joey Negro, takes us through his stunning and incredibly organised collection. This series intends to be a great insight into the musical tastes of true geniuses. "I just come in here and sniff them sometimes..." says Dave.
Rene Kristensen aka Noir has a reputation for being incredibly chilled out, and he's not entirely sure why. But it could have something to do with coming from the “nice and quiet” Aalborg in Denmark, his hometown, that he still resides in.
Scene stalwarts Defected Records have been repositioning themselves of late, picking up on the movers from the deep and tech house underground and pushing them out to a more mainstream audience.
They have now announced that Danish tech houser, Noir is mixing the latest 'In The House' compilation.
The double CD, released on Jan 28th features tracks from Nina Kraviz, Nick Curly, Yousef, dOP and Noir himself.
