DJ Mag’s Best of British awards 2018 has been, as ever, a fine celebration of the homegrown talent in UK dance music.
Fatboy Slim was presented with the Outstanding Contribution award at DJ Mag’s annual Best Of British awards ceremony tonight (13th December). The incomparable Scottish author behind such titles as Trainspotting and ocassional DJ/producer Irvine Welsh was there to present the award of Outstanding Contribution to the UK stalwart and big beat legend.
Brighton’s finest – real name Norman Cook – was there to collect the prestigious award, which celebrates his enduring influence on the UK dance music community and beyond.
The nominations for 2019’s Grammys have been revealed, with some exciting prospects getting the nod in the ‘Best Dance/Electronic’ categories.
In the ‘Best Dance Recording’ category the nominees are: Legendary trance trio Above & Beyond’s ‘Northern Soul feat. Richard Bedford’, Disclosure’s return single ‘Ultimatum feat. Fatoumata Diawara’, Fisher’s ubiquitous tech-house cut ‘Losing It’, Silk City & Dua Lipa’s ‘Electricity’ and Porter Robinson’s ‘Ghost Voices’ under his Virtual Self monicker.

Voting closes on Friday 30th November ahead of the awards party on Thursday 13th December at EGG LDN.

Fabio & Grooverider, the drum & bass pairing whose sets at Rage were the catalyst for the birth of jungle/drum & bass in the early '90s, are to be presented with the Outstanding Contribution award at DJ Mag's Best Of British event on Wednesday 16th December.
