Café D'Anvers

Outlasting two recessions and celebrating its 20-year-anniversary last Autumn, Antwerp's Café D'Anvers hasn't shifted its core values one jot since 1989. One of Belgium's first forums for the nascent acid house and Detroit techno sounds, Café D'Anvers is still everything that you'd want from a club of its size - boasting a warm crowd of clued-up regulars, an intimate vibe, a stunning soundsystem and an unshakeably underground booking policy. It speaks volumes that both Cocoon and Circo Loco hold residencies here, while Kevin Saunderson, Laurent Garnier, Rolando, Sneak, Riva Starr, Freerange's Milton Jackson and Guy Gerber have all played of late.

"The place really is full of history and reminds us a bit of Glasgow's Sub Club in its ethos, history and vibe," says Silicone Soul's Graeme Reedie.
