When you first arrive at Fabrik, you'd be forgiven for wondering if you're in the right place at all. For starters, you'll probably have ventured some 30 km from Madrid's bustling and cultured centre only to find yourself in a deserted, rundown industrial estate with little but petrol stations and bathroom showrooms for company. Step inside, though, and you enter another dimension altogether. The huge warehouse hangar of a main room is an instant onslaught on the senses with the best sound, light, VJ screens and ice cannons money can buy, but there's plenty other areas to explore in this cavernous complex - including the outdoor terrace and river which come alive in the scorching summer months.

With DJs like Steve Bug, Solomun and Guy Gerber favourites, the Sunday Goa parties are the stuff of Spanish legend with the sort of wild production and decadently costumed performers that seem the preserve of the best Spanish and Balearic clubs (Space Ibiza, anyone?), but Fabrik's weekend programming is increasingly on the button with promoters like Code and Vertigo presenting festival style line-ups of the finest techno teachers most Saturdays.
