What goes up must come down go the laws of gravity, but Lithuania's Gravity Club is proving otherwise. Rising as the premier underground nightspot in Lithuania, the Vilnius venue shows little sign of slowing its ascendancy with Mary Anne-Hobbs recently hyping the venue on her Radio One show.
Run by DJs and idealist music-lovers rather than cash-counting capitalists, Gravity is well deserving of its praise. The soundsystem is perfect, local DJs are strongly supported and global guests are chosen on quality rather than commerciality - Hercules & Love Affair, Kris Menace, Surgeon, Ivan Smagghe, Goldie, London Elektricity and Ellen Allien have all rocked it.
"We are not a huge club but we are a club that always tries to put on something musically interesting," says Arnas Urbanavicius, Gravity Club owner. "We're here for people who are into music rather than those who go clubbing without knowing who is going to be playing."
