One of the first Brazilian clubs to generate hype on the world stage, D-Edge is known for its cutting-edge décor and on-point bookings alike. Boasting sci-fi-worthy LED walls designed by the award-winning Muti Randolph, four rooms and superior sound, the 17-year-old club has put the big city of São Paulo on the clubbing bucket list. Last year, luminaries like Anthony Parasole, Thomas Melchior, Boo Williams, Wehbba and Slam played the hallowed venue, while homegrown drum & bass hero DJ Marky dropped in to remind us that the club isn’t just about quality house and techno.

There are five regular promotions at D-Edge, with something to cater for most tastes: Freak N Chic, which celebrates the best of the French underground and recently booked Traumer to play; Mothership, which traverses everything from industrial EBM to d&b; the techno-tilted Moving; the psych, indie and rock of the suitably named On The Rocks; and Superafter, a Sunday event running from 5am to midday for the carrying-on crew.

Started by DJ and producer Renato Ratier in 2003 — himself one of the residents — D-Edge has expanded to become a record label, DJ school and booking agency. As such, it’s an incubator for upcoming Brazilian DJ talent and the scene as a whole in the country.
