Location: Valinhos, Brazil
In just five years, Laroc has become a major player in Brazil’s increasingly vibrant club scene. A short drive from the megalopolis of São Paulo, this capacious open-air venue in the verdant hilly countryside centres on an impressive festival-style stage. There, superstars of EDM, trance, house and techno keep the huge crowds moving from late afternoon through golden sunsets, and well into the early hours.
In 2019, such diverse DJs as NERVO, Oliver Heldens and Aly & Fila played at Laroc, in addition to local favourites Cat Dealers and Felguk; while in 2020, Seth Troxler, Guy Gerber and Joris Voorn have made noise in the venue.
“Laroc was created back in October 2015 to be a destination for electronic music lovers in São Paulo,” says the club’s Victor Flosi. During Brazil’s famous carnival, it hosts the Ame Laroc Festival, an event that Flosi says “is now the biggest electronic music festival in Brazil”. Other important dates on the calendar include the club’s opening anniversary in October, and whenever homegrown DJ titans ALOK and Vintage Culture play, it’s always sold out. Look out for a new lighting system and stage redesign this year.
