Sven Väth's Cocoon techno empire went from strength to strength this year, despite the occasional hiccup. Having taken January off to recharge his batteries, Sven toured the world during the first half of the year to promote his 'The Sound of the Seventh Season' mix CD.
The Väth global road show stopped off at well-known clubs like Womb in Tokyo and Fuse in Brussels, as well as lesser-known clubbing destinations like Shanghai and Bangkok, only taking a break to appear at his Friday night residency at his state-of-the-art Cocoon club in Frankfurt.

However, Cocoon faced some obstacles in Ibiza this year when the police authorities objected to licences for some of the island's venues, and for the first three weeks of the season, Cocoon's weekly Monday night institution took place in Privilege. Cocoon was quickly back in its regular Ibiza home though and hosted a successful run during the summer - including the first Minus party on the island - at Amnesia.

A keen talent scout, Sven was the first to spot and sign up Romanian spinner Raresh, who has just released his first mix CD for Cocoon, 'Freakshow', and the recent Cocoon 'G' compilation features exclusive tracks from upcoming producers like My My, Marcel Dettmann and Onur Ozer.
Väth plans to release his annual mix CD to document Cocoon's Ibiza residency, 'The Sound of the Eighth Season', and will embark on a world tour to promote it.
As usual, expect Cocoon to be one of the main attractions in Ibiza clubland in summer 2008.
